The Celebration Will Go On.

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

If everyone is wondering if the sidewalk project will be effecting Old Home Day, the committee is working very closely with our school and town officials.

The sidewalk construction came to the committee’s attention that we might not have a venue for the fireworks. The sidewalk project affects almost the entire front lawn of the high school and there would be no way for the project to be completed in time for the event. So with the help of Londonderry Public Works and the School District a strategy was presented and the issue was resolved. What great team work between our two branches of government!

It will be obvious during the event that construction of the sidewalk is taking place, but with the help of Janusz Czyzowski department head of Public Works the impact will be minimal.

The Old Home Day Committee is happy to inform the citizen of Londonderry that the show will go on. By the way the Old Home Day Blog is heating up. Make sure to click on the late Mr. Madden. He was the former holder of the Boston Post Cane and one of Old Home Day former Grand Marshall’s. The website is getting updated regularly and we are trying to keep it with the most updated information.

Stay tune the event is less then 30 days and counting. This year the event takes place August 15 – 19, 2007 and the theme selected by the Mrs. Reed’s fourth grade class at MT “The Big Apple of New Hampshire”.

Parade is on Saturday August 18

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

The Old Home Day Parade kicks off on the morning of Saturday, August 18, featuring the Londonderry Lancers Band. This don’t-miss event is a highlight of the OHD celebration.

Come early to get a good spot on the route from Mammoth Road! The parade starts at the Londonderry Middle School and proceeds south to Mack’s Apples. A shuttle bus is available.

The parade launch site is at the Middle School. You can drop off your child there, or at the designated meeting point for his/her group. Cindi Rice Conley wants to remind everyone:

There is no parking at the Middle School.

Each year thousands of people watch the parade, and then descend on the Common and the many eateries and nonprofit booths there.
